Tips In Preparing For the Future

As I mentioned in my previous article The Future Workforce, we cannot deny that machines, technology, and AI are going to change the future of work. So how do we secure ourselves a spot in the future workforce?

Here are some tips on how we can prepare ourselves for the future from a freelance virtual assistant's point of view.

1. Find something you can do online

Whether it be establishing an online shop or offering services such as web developing, coding, chat support, graphic design, etc. There are so many options to choose from. Of course you have to study it (check out Filipino Virtual Assistant Consultancy for online courses) Here's where tip number two comes in

2. Do what you love

Make sure to find and study something that you're actually interested in. Here's a quote from Marc Anthony "If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life."

Hear! Hear!

3. Unravel your hidden talents

As a musician, I can say that the music industry will grow stronger in the future. Especially for educators like me. Since music is subjective, I doubt that even the most intelligent AI can make a constructive and efficient guidance to the learner. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable having a machine or an AI teaching me.

I can say the same with arts.

4. Be flexible

We're going to face a lot of changes in the future that's why we have to be willing to adapt and be flexible. Let me quote what Osonde Osoba said

“If you are thinking about concrete things an individual might do to prepare themselves, I guess being more adaptable, being more flexible, being able to reeducate yourself to fit into a different job.”

There is so much more to say but these four, for me, are the most important thing to keep in mind.

One last positive note, the Rand Corporation recently identified these three job types that most likely will not be replaced: jobs depending on human motor skills, positions requiring creative thinking and actions, and jobs dealing with intense social interaction.

"There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure. Get mad, then get over it." Colin Powell
